Unfortunately, we had a few last-minute cancelations, however 26 of us still heading off on our trip last Friday. We made good time and stopped in Beaudesert for our morning tea. Then headed off for the short drive to Lake Wyaralong home to Queensland Rowing. We were fortunate enough to see lots of rowers on the lake as there was Queensland Schools State Championship being held on the Saturday. We stopped near the dam wall and checked it all out. Construction started in 2009 and finished in June 2011. At the time it cost $348 million, or around 74 million Big Macs. It has a capacity of 103,00 million litres – equivalent to over 300 billion cans of coke. We then headed to Dugandan Hotel just outside Boonah for a very nice lunch which was cooked by the apprentice who had only been working there for 2 weeks. After lunch we drew the raffle and then headed home via Kalbar, Peak Crossing and then Cunningham Highway. Unfortunately, the traffic was not very kind to us, but we arrived back in Redcliffe around 4:30PM. Great day and everybody enjoyed it.
