OCTOBER NOOSA RIVER CRUISE TRIP

Last Friday (18 Oct) 41 of us headed off on a great trip to Noosa under a clear and sunny sky. Travelled up the Bruce highway before turning off onto Steve Irwin Way. We stopped for a lovely morning (once again supplied by Margaret from Red & White) at Pioneer Park on the northern outskirts of Landsborough. After a nice cuppa, back on the coach for a scenic drive around Caloundra and Kawana before travelling up the Sunshine Coast Motorway arriving in Tewantin around 12, just in time for lunch. Here we enjoyed a very nice 2 course lunch at The River Deck Restaurant overlooking the Noosa River. Also watched the restaurant owner feeding some of the birds on the deck. Only had a very short walk to get on the ferry for our cruise from Tewantin down the river to Noosa. The skipper filled us in on some of the history of the river and the surrounding area before we departed the ferry at Sofitel Noosa Resort to once again board our coach for the return journey. One interesting fact he shared, there are only 2 set of traffic lights in Noosa area but lots and lots of roundabouts. We stopped on the side of the road overlooking the beautiful Pacific Ocean where we drew the raffles. Barb D, Nancy and Lorraine won the raffle prizes. We drove down along the coast for a little way before joining back on the Sunshine Motorway and then onto the Bruce Highway arriving back in Redcliffe just after 4PM. A great day and time had by everyone.

Morning Tea at Landsborough. Lunch at River Deck Restaurant.
