Bus trip to Ginger Factory and Yandina Historic house on Friday 17 February

34 members enjoyed a great day out on our bus trip. After a good trip up in the Redcliffe Community Bus, we enjoyed ginger scones, tea and coffee for morning tea. We then split into 2 groups for our tour of the factory and some tasting of the local product. This was very informative about how it’s grown and processed and the different things that the ginger is used for and tasting some of this such as Ginger cordial, ginger marmalade all of which was very nice and I am not a big ginger person. We had time to check out the shop and grounds and I am sure everyone came away with something, some more than others. We then enjoyed a very nice lunch in the cool air-con room. Had a group photo taken in front of the factory before getting back on board for short drive down the road to the Yandina Historic house where we spent some time going through the house looking at its history and checking out the shop, once again people spent their money in support of the local community. After a short visit there, back on the bus for our return trip back to Redcliffe. Traffic was good to us in both directions and a special thanks to Peter our driver. We can’t be too bad as he keeps coming along as our driver.
