2019 Christmas in July Trip

Last Friday on a beautiful winters day 50 members headed off on our Christmas in July trip to Coolum. We travelled north taking Steve Irwin Way and stopped for morning tea at Matthew Flinders Park on the banks of Tibrogargan Creek. After we enjoyed a very nice morning tea, back on the coach, unfortunately the coach did not want to start. Back off the coach and we waited about 10-15 minutes for another Cross Country Coach (was full of other people also heading to Coolum) to arrive to see if they could help us get going. They could not help but the driver arranged for a mechanic to come from Glasshouse, however before he arrived the driver tried it one more time and it stated, so back on the coach and off we headed. Travelled up the Bruce Highway onto the Sunshine Motorway taking in the landscape framed by Mt Coolum arriving at Coolum Beach Hotel on time just after 12. Here we celebrated the festivities mid-year with a traditional Christmas lunch including turkey, ham and all the trimmings and of course a delicious desert. Everyone received a lovely little Christmas gift and even Santa made an appearance. After a very enjoyable lunch we were back on the coach for our return trip arriving in Redcliffe around 3:30 in the afternoon. Great day had by all and thanks to our coach driver for getting us there and back safely. Special Thanks to Jackie for organising the little gifts for everyone and the Christmas hamper for the raffle. There where also 4 mystery prizes and 2 bottles of wine as prizes. Thanks to everyone for their support.
